PUBLIC STATEMENT
THE DRAFT OF THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS ACT
MUST NOT REACH PARLIAMENT
Forum for Security and Democracy is, with regards to the ongoing public debate about the Draft of the Internal Affairs Act, of the opinion that the draft, in its current version, is entirely unacceptable and must not be considered by the Parliament under any circumstances.
FSD is certain that the passing of that draft into law would not only pose a significant roadblock to the government’s proclaimed ambition of EU membership but would also to its core transfigure the very nature of Serbian society to an extent from which there maybe no going back.
FSD is deeply disappointed that the government of Ana Brnabic has, for the second time, promoted as desirable a model of organization of police affairs something that is more befitting of Putin’s Russia than a country that still hasn’t turned its back on its own European future.
FSD, finally, is of the opinion that in order to cast aside any doubts with regards to its commitment to full-fledged EU membership, the government must insist on the full political accountability of the ministers and officials who have shaken its credibility to this extent and brought into question it’s core foreign policy agenda.
